Steel Record Holder

Continuing my exploration of bent steel rod, I decided to design a record holder. I lost count of how many prototypes and revisions it took before arriving at the form you see here. Every bend must be square, parallel, and consistent—something that's surprisingly difficult with such tight radii.

As with many of my designs, the goal was to strip the idea down to its essentials. Nothing unnecessary. Just clean lines and honest construction.

After each piece is carefully bent and straightened, I apply a hand-rubbed black oxide finish, the same finish used on our folding stool and magazine rack side table. The dark finish emphasizes every line, giving the steel an almost hand-drawn quality.

The result is a record holder that lets your LP collection take center stage. It provides a quiet, understated foundation that organizes and displays your records without competing for attention—a simple solution, thoughtfully made.
